Here, at the Merewood Country House Hotel, we provide a specialist Wedding Cake Design Service. With over 10 years experience you can rest assured that your cake will be expertly made using quality ingredients, fantastic recipes and decorated with fine attention to detail and design.

We offer you a mouth-watering selection of menus to choose from. If you have particular preferences we will be pleased to adapt a menu to suit you, or assist with special diets. Appetising vegetarian alternatives are always available; just let us know how many of your guests are likely to prefer this option. For the evening choose from our tasty buffets to round off the perfect day.

A choice of tempting drinks is available for all occasions - a glass on arrival, good Champagne for the toasts and wine from our extensive list. There is also a well stocked bar where you guests may choose their own drinks, on your account or paying as they go.

The best is not always the most expensive. At our hotels we give you top quality food prepared with care and beautifully presented. The country houses are steeped in atmosphere, their splendid locations overlooking Windermere and superb gardens provide a perfect backdrop.

You will find our staff friendly but discreet, attentive and efficient. They will always be on hand and you will benefit from their professionalism from the very first meeting to your first night as husband and wife.

With us there are no hidden extras - included in the price are private bar, ample car parking, cake stand and knife and background music. We can also arrange place cards, menus and table plans.

The Civil Wedding Ceremony
In place of the Register Office or Church, you may choose to hold your wedding ceremony at the Hotel. In these attractive and romantic settings your reception can begin immediately after the wedding ceremony. Another advantage is that your guests are saved the inconvenience of travelling and parking for the ceremony and then again to the Hotel for the reception. Typically the Registrar meets the Bride and Groom, attended by witnesses and guests. After the civil ceremony relax with celebratory drinks and go through to the reception.

Staying at the Hotel
It may be convenient for your and some of your guests to stay in the Hotels, particularly if they have a long journey. They can relax before the wedding and avoid driving home in the evening. It can also be an excellent opportunity to discover the beautiful countryside around the Hotels.

Additional assistance
Some are uncertain about the traditional etiquette for wedding receptions and the responsibilities of participants. Don't worry, we will advise on procedure and set it all out in writing for you. We will help manage the day to ensure its smooth running. We have established links with ancillary wedding services and, as you wish, would be pleased to help or advise with flowers, limousine hire, wedding cakes, photography, musical entertainment and hairdressers.
